Gas Expected At $3.00 A Gallon By Summer

March 27, 2010 |13:32 | Gas  By : Team X

As you head to the gas pumps this weekend you may notice the price of a gallon of gas has risen drastically just in the past couple of weeks. A report from AAA came out on Friday saying the national average for a gallon of gas has kept steady at $2.81 for a week straight. But that price has jumped 21 cents within the last two months--not to mention that price is 13 cents higher than last year at this time. By summer energy analysts say the price may reach three dollars a gallon.

Drivers we talked with are worried about the price hike. Eumeka Suggs says, "It's really expensive. Like um, earlier this week it was just $2.50 something and today it's almost three dollars. It's ridiculous." According to AAA Carolinas--the average price for a gallon of gas around Greenville is $2.85. That's five cents above the national average.

Phoenix gas price climbs 12 cents in week

October 31, 2009 |11:59 | Gas  By : Team X

Retail gasoline prices are creeping up at a time when unemployment remains high.  Gasoline prices in Phoenix jumped 12 cents in the past week to $2.52 per gallon. Gas is still less expensive than it was one year ago when the Phoenix average was nearly $2.72 per gallon.

Nationwide, gasoline prices reached a new peak for the year on Friday at nearly $2.70 per gallon, marking the 17th consecutive day that pump prices inched higher.  The rising pump prices come as oil prices have climbed $17 per barrel since August and the dollar has weakened, making gas more expensive for U.S. consumers.

Gas prices dip four cents in western Pennsylvania

September 9, 2009 |12:23 | Gas  By : Team X

Despite the Labor Day holiday, gas prices slid a little bit from a week ago, falling just about four cents in western Pennsylvania, according to the AAA Fuel Gauge Report. The price for a gallon of regular, unleaded gasoline this week was $2.61 per gallon, down from just over $2.65 a week ago. That's 97 cents cheaper than this time last year, when gas was $3.59 per gallon.

The national average was nearly $2.58, also down slightly from the week prior. On Monday, crude oil prices rose to $71.17 per barrel, up $3. The western Pennsylvania region included in the report stretches from Erie to Altoona. Brookville had the lowest gas prices at $2.48, while Sharon had the highest at $2.71. The average gas price in the city of Pittsburgh was $2.64 per gallon, AAA found.

Orlando gas prices inch down

August 25, 2009 |10:30 | Gas  By : Team X

The cost of a gallon of regular gasoline in metro Orlando retreated 2 cents a gallon to $2.56 during the week ended Sunday compared to the previous week, AAA Auto Club South reported. The average price nationally also fell 2 cents a gallon to $2.62.

The modest decline came as crude oil prices shot to the highest level in 2009, closing at $73.89 a barrel. But economists and petroleum experts were mixed about the impact of crude on gas prices, even though an increase in crude costs generally leads to higher prices at the pump. The economists said high unemployment levels and weak consumer spending have slackened demand. And the summer travel season ends on Labor Day Weekend, now less than two weeks away.

Gas explosion residents in dark over return time

The top four floors of the Bondi Junction building have been sealed off due to a police investigation into the blast, which left two plumbers in hospital with serious burns. Residents from the remaining 24 floors could only access their units before 3:00pm (AEDT) this afternoon.

A tenant from the building, Annaleise Fessl, says little is known about the extent of the damage. "They just told us it could be months, not weeks, that we're not allowed to live there," she said.  "Council could at any stage deem the whole building as uninhabitable due to lack of essential services.  "We've got no water, we've got limited electricity and there's no fire safety things in the building because the fire doors are open at all times and things like this, so it's hard."

Largest gas turbine 2838 sensors 90 GB data per hour of testingMuch is made of the benefits of modular design and construction but not often associated with the large scale of power plants.

Yet, this is the path Siemens Energy has taken to bring online the world’s largest H-class gas turbine, expected to deliver 60%+ thermal efficiency in combined-cycle operation.

That operating mode will come after adding a steam turbine, with full system completion and handover expected in mid-2011.Installed at the Irsching gas power plant, SGT5-8000H gas turbine is a 440 metric ton, 50-Hz machine that outputs 340 MW—and is designed for 530 MW in eventual combined-cycle operation.

Utahns say gas prices have them driving less

May 26, 2008 |18:05 | Gas | Others  By : Team X

Holiday travelers aren't getting any relief at the pumps this Memorial Day weekend. As a matter of fact, they will find gas prices higher when they return home. According to AAA, the average gallon of regular unleaded jumped two cents overnight to $3.93. That's up more than 35 cents from a month ago.

Eleven states and Washington, D.C. are now paying more than $4 a gallon. Utahns say they are definitely changing their driving habits because of the high gas prices, but the changes Utah drivers are making might surprise you.

There's been a lot of speculation about what it would take to change the habits of Utah drivers. Well, we asked, and more than half are driving differently. In an exclusive Dan Jones and Associates poll for KSL-TV and the Deseret News, 63 percent said yes, they're changing their driving habits as a result of high prices.

Carrie Fisher said, "I filled up with gas twice before the weekend, just to avoid it going up to $4 and having to pay that."
