Rs150bln loss due to suspended business activities in Karachi

Business actions in the conurbation were on the brink as banks, ports, industrial and commercial components continued to be shut down appropriate to aggressive disorder on entrance of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry at the Jinnah International Airport from Islamabad.Market sources told Geo News that national treasure had a loss of around Rs150 bln owing to lawlessness on May 12 in Karachi. The estimated loss includes: Rs50mln in industries, Rs500mln in exports, Rs100mln in vegetable and fruit markets. Meanwhile, exporters said they could not continue their business on May 12 since all banking activities were closed, whereas imported goods could not be delivered to the required spots due to non-availability of transportation.
