Chinese banks average CAR 12.2 pct at end-2010

The core capital adequacy ratio with Chinese banks rose an average 0.9 percentage point to 10.1 percent at the end of last year, CBRC added.  According to CBRC rules, top lenders such as Industrial & Commercial Bank of China (601398.SS)(1398.HK) and China Construction Bank (601939.SS)(0939.HK) are required to meet a minimum capital ratio of 11.5, percent while small-and mid-sized banks must meet a minimum ratio of 10 percent.
